Samsung has partnered with Intel to unveil the world's first 5G laptop to qualify for Intel Evo certification. This new product is called the Galaxy Book Flex 5G.
The presented model is equipped with a 13.3-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The configuration can include one of Intel 's new Tiger Lake processors (Core i5 or Core i7), up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of solid state storage. Also reported is a 69.7 Wh battery, 13-megapixel webcam, backlit keyboard and a complete S Pen.
The Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 5G meets Intel Evo certification, which is more stringent than Project Athena. In particular, the performance bar is higher and includes more use cases. The system must be offline for 9 hours or more in “real” use, which includes Chrome, G Suite, Microsoft Office 365, YouTube and Zoom. It also requires the laptop to wake up from sleep in less than a second and support fast charging (up to 4 hours of operation in less than 30 minutes for FHD display systems). In addition, Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 4 support is required.
Information on the timing of the start of sales and the price of the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 5G laptop has not yet been reported.
